Recession Proof Businesses | Recession Survival pt 1

Even in the worst times of recession or even depression, there are certain recession proof businesses that seem to thrive regardless of how the world around it seems to be doing. Even when most families have very little money to spare there are indeed certain necessities that the population will still have a need for and will probably always be in demand. While no business is completely recession-proof, there are certainly some industries where there is opportunity to succeed and find work, even in the worst economic downturns.

Computer Repair/Technical Support
It’s pretty safe to say that computers and personal computers are not going anywhere anytime soon. As long as there are computers, there will be people to break them. Even those most basic knowledge in computer repair can be turned for a profit.

Credit Repair/Debt Consolidation
Where there is a recession, there are people wanting to fix their credit and consolidate your debt. Don’t think of it as preying on the weak, think of it as a business decision. This is one industry that actually booms while most are seeing downturns.

Debt Collection
If they can’t consolidate, there has to be someone there to collect. Debt collection is one job that isn’t going anywhere during a recession and is able to survive even the harshest economic disparities.

Automotive Repair
Even when the money is low, there are still places to go and people to see. In a recession, as the sales of new cars decline, old cars are kept for longer leaving more repairs and maintenance to keep the cars running and their owners moving from place to place.

Healthcare
Healthcare isn’t going anywhere even in the worst times economically. With high-stress times there is bound to be more people falling ill and needing care. Becoming a medical transcriptionist is fairly simple, and is a job that is rarely eliminated in tough times.

Waste Management
There will always be garbage for the garbageman to collect. While even this industry does feel the effects of a recession, there is certainly still a great deal of money to made in picking up and disposing of other peoples trash. Who wants to do that themselves?

Cheap Entertainment
Be it your local blockbuster or a rodeo just outside of town, the masses are always looking for a cheap way to be entertained, especially when their pockets are looking a little thin. A lot of paid online entertainment services such as iTunes and Rhapsody will still do very well during a recession.

Keep in mind that most entry-level jobs are viewed as semi-disposable on a corporate level. Evaluate your skills and ask yourself if you can benefit from the economic downturn and perhaps even turn it into a successful venture for yourself. In a time where finding a job and sticking with it for the rest of your life is becoming more and more uncommon, it’s always good to take a step back, assess the situation, and figure out what’s right for you. Also, if you’re feeling a bit ambitious, these can also be some ideas for some recession proof businesses you can start on your own.

We May Need a Global Recession Survival Guide

Why do I say we may need a global recession survival guide? I was reading this morning that stocks were falling all around the world due to fear of a global recession looming on the horizon. What does this mean for the us? To tell you the truth no one is quite sure what it will mean. The reason being that this is the first time the world has been as connected as it is in this generation. With various countries being interlinked financially, more and more of the risk and reward is being shared among many players.

Think of it as a spider web, when there is a dip in one area of the web, it pulls down the rest of the web. With that being said, the bigger the dip, the further the spider web collapses. So with the U.S. facing whats at the very least a psychological recession, if not a techinical recession. So with our credit markets in dire straights, there appears to be not only a trickle down, but a trickle across. Now the principles in the recession survival guide still apply. Better yet they also apply globally. But enough product placement.

The good thing about this whole mess is that eventhough the economy fell along way, that means it has a long way to climb back up. If you know what to do. There are so many opportunities to get various investments at huge discounts. The screw individual will not only survive the recession, but will thrive in this recession. What the U.S. government should do to stabilize things, is….wait for it….wait for it…..NOTHING!!! That is not a popular statement these days. Though I will refrain from expounding further unless you leave a request in the comments, then I will be glad to expound on my opinion further.

I say all of this to say, that with a global recession, comes global opportunity. If you’re reading this, then that means you have access to the internet. If you have access to the internet then you already have a chance to survive and thrive in this global recession. Thats why there is the survival guide.
