The Top 11 Wrestling Theme Songs in the History of Professional Wrestling
by Admin on 28/03/10 at 1:03 pm
In honor of Wrestlemania 26 Sunday, I’ve decided to compile a list of my top 11 favorite wrestling themes of all time.Yes your friend here at Super Blogs has been a huge wrestling fan for quite sometime. So in an effort to not annoy my wife, needless to say she isn’t as into the great phenomenon known as Sports Entertainment as much as I am. So anyway, if you’re a big fan like me outside of cheering your favorite wrestler, or booing the one you hate, who doesn’t love a uber sweet theme song? I know I do! I put a lot of thought into this, cut a lot of imaginary promos to probably all of these songs, and I’ve also been a fan of all these professional wrestling superstars.
Originally this list was supposed to be a top 10 list. However as I began doing my research for this post I realized it was so many kick arse introduction songs I hadn’t heard in while. So what you will see is a top 10 list that turned into a top 11 with 5 honorable mentions, and a couple of combo pics. Hey I’m a mark what can I say. Well enough of the chit chat. Lets jump in.
Honorable Mentions:
Run DMC’s Remix of Degeneration X, The Kings
What happens when you mix one of the hottest groups in wrestling with pioneers of hip hop Run DMC? You a get a musical orgy that will have you crotch chopping, smack talking, and arse whipping. I remember the first time I heard it, WWE then WWF at the time was promoting their WWF Aggression album which comprised of your favorite superstars having their theme songs remixed. Well for the most part it was a bucket of diaper residue, however somebody was still awoke at the wheel because they produced this little gem.
Beth Phoenix’s Entrance Music
First I got to say, I’m a huuuugggeeee Glamazon fan. I’m not going to get into how she has it all. If she wanted to be my wrestling trainer I wouldn’t object. But anywho, when her theme music hits you know you some poor unfortunate WWE diva is about to get her pretty little face rearranged. Not only that, but when she hits her finisher, they may be a cup size or two smaller if you catch my drift.
Ravishing Rick Rude’s First WCW Entrance
First let me say, R.I.P. to the late great Ravishing Rick Rude. I would post his real name, but we don’t break kayfabe around here. Never the less, back to the theme music. I don’t know what it was about this particular song, perhaps Rick Rude made it better than it was. But in between those tiger growls and insane guitar riffs, there is a great technical wrestler coming after you, and he had no problem cheating to win. Rick Rude, this one is for you.
The Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase’s Entrance Music
Folks, this theme right here almost made it into the Top 11 a few times. Just think about the sheer brilliance of the song. At precisely the same time, the song starts with the choir singing “money money money…” and at that precise moment, Dibiase breaks in with his evil corporate tycoon maniacal laugh! They say Albert Einstein was a genius. No my friends, the genius is the guy who came up with this song. And by the way, if you see the Million Dollar Man on the street keep in mind that not only is he the Million Dollar Man, but he is also now a WWE Hall of Famer to you.
Jimmy Super Fly Snuka Entrance Music
Come on, what do I need to say about the intro music of WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy Super Fly Snuka? This guy has revolutionized the way that you can dive off of a steel cage. Like Rick Rude, the guy was ripped to shreds. My only beef with Snuka was that for most of his career he wrestled barefooted. I particularly don’t care for barefooted wrestlers, but how could you not make an exception for Jimmy Snuka?
Razor Ramon’s Entrance Theme
Razor Ramon, who also has wrestled as Scott Hall, ( which some speculate maybe his real name) was a guy who left the WWF at the wrong time I hate to say. Or maybe he left at the right time due to the serious coin WCW paid him at the time. But unfortunately, we shall all wonder at the possibility of how high Razor Ramon could have soared. After his epic ladder with The Incomparable Shawn Michaels, he should of been set to be WWF/E champion. Moral of the story boys and girls, becareful when you chase money. Razor is still awesome, and you can him on TNA these days. Sorry for the Razor Ramon love fest and mini sermon, it may or may not happen again.
And now with that said and done. Lets get into the meat of the countdown shall we!
Number 11
Bret The Hitman Hart’s Entrance Theme Circa 1994-1997
First and foremost, I just want to pray that the Hitman has a safe match tonight, and that he makes it out better than he goes in. Anyway, this was an update to his original theme and I must say it is simply off the hook. The emphasis the guitar puts on the hook makes it a whole lot easier to cheer for a man who wears pink. However, not counting Shawn Michaels, he is the Best There is, the Best There Was, and the Best There Ever Will Be.
Number 10
The Undertakers Graveyard Symphony
Dude…this entrance from the first time from the last time makes the hairs on my knuckles stand up. If you’ve ever seen the Undertaker come out on tv, you know how sweet and awe inspiring it is. However, that ain’t shizzle until you’ve sat in the crowd…the lights go out….and that gong hits…Un….be…..lievable!!! The WWE’s own timex man has been going strong for almost 2 decades. With an impressive Wrestlemania streak of 17-0. I think part of it is this theme song. On a side note, sorry Taker I want Shawn to win, eventhough i think you will. Go figure.
Number 9
The Ultimate Warrior’s Entrance
The last time anyone saw the Ultimate Warrior he was in WCW. At least kayfabe wise anyway. When the Warriors joint started up, and he came flying down to ring, all hair, facepaint, and ropes, it was hard not to get excited. How could you not marvel at the fact this guy would come flying down the aisle at 200 miles per hour, squash some poor jabroni, then zoom back. I get winded trying to catch the phone before it goes to voicemail.
Number 8
Degeneration X / Wolf Pack / New World Order Themes (3 way tie)
Yes ladies and gentleman, I took the oldest cop out in list making history. Unable to rank these three themes individually, I took what little brain power I have and lumped them all together. And with the exception of Hulk Hogan, the original DX and NWO members, Kevin ‘Big Daddy Cool Diesel’ Nash and Razor ‘Scott Hall’ Ramon (if you get it you’ve been paying attention), were all friends anyway. And what my fell marks didn’t get during that era was that they weren’t stealing from each other because they were all cool. Nothing like having homies who are down like 4 flat tires. Anyway enjoy the picks.
The NWO theme was just tooo sweeeeetttt!!!!
Number 7
Edges Entrance – Metalingus performed by Alter Bridge
You think you know me? Edge’s kick butt theme is a slightly tweeked version of this piece of art brought to us by Alter Bridge. Lets face it, Edge though not quite the Rated R Superstar anymore. More like the TV-14 Superstar? But it doesn’t matter, a wrestling match is part sports, part drama, part rock concert. And Edge is talented enough to do it all. You think you know me always bring me to my feet. Spear!
Number 6
Stone Cold Steve Austin Entrance Circa 1998-2000 / Disturbed Mix
Stone Cold is up there with Hulk Hogan as perhaps the greatest WWE Wrestler of all time. Too be honest though Austin’s themes are pretty cool, being the peace loving weenie I am, I feared a backlash of not putting him in the Top 11. Like I’m sure when Ric Flair’s fans find out he didn’t make the cut, I’m sure the comments section may get interesting. But like I said, he is in the Top 3 of all time so I couldn’t leave The Texas Rattlesnake hanging like that. But if I had to pick, I like the disturbed mix better, however it wouldn’t exist without the original.
Disturbed Version
Number 5
The Miz – I Came to Play
To be frank, The Miz had a lot of momentum coming into this countdown. For starters he is from Cleveland like me, his birthday is 3 days after mine. He’s awesome. And he’s awesome because he is The Miz. Between The Miz and Lebron James, its a great time to represent C-Town! I came to play witches. Go Miz, Go Cavs, and Go Browns!
Number 4
Macho Man Randy Savage – Pomp and Circumstance
Here is a guy who loved the graduation song so much, that he wanted to feel like it was graduation everytime he came down to the ring. I wonder how many parents have taken the time to thank Randy Savage for helping to motivate their kids to want to graduate. Heck I know every time graduated i was either snapping into a slim jim, going to rescue Miss Elizabeth from my principal, or cursing Hulk Hogan for breaking up the Mega Powers and ruining my career. I threw the last one in for the lols but you get the point. Macho Man Randy Savage is the graduation song, and the graduation song is Macho Man Randy Savage. Ooooooooohhh Yeeaahhhhhhh!!!!
Number 3
The Rock 1998 Version/ Know Your Role Version/ Hollywood Version
I had every reason in the world to hate the Rock. Like most of my favorite wrestlers he won me over when he was a bad guy. Of course he had to turn good. And I wanted to not like him, but I couldn’t. Then my ex fiancee, lusted over the man which was tough on my fragile ego, yet I was still a fan. I hate to say it, but part of the problem was probably because he reminded me so much of myself. After all, I can relate to being the cat that all the homies respect, and all the chicks want to bang. I love my wife by the way. So once I was able to put that behind me, I could really smell what the Rock was cookin. So here is to the People’s Champion, probably the coolest guy to ever lace up the boots.
1998 Kick arse version
Know Your Role Version
Hollywood Rock Version
Number 2
Goldbergs WCW Entrance Music
Bill Goldbergs entrance and music, and pyrotechnics, and smoke, and breathing smoke, and exhaling smoke was probably the most interesting I’d seen since Big Van Vader use to come out with that freaky looking smoke mask thingy. Which oozed awesomeness of course. But back to Goldberg, his entrance set the theme for what you knew was going to end with some poor bastard getting his head smashed. Bret Hart anyone? The guy was intense, he was the irresistible force and the unmovable object rolled into one. And this song made you believe it.
And Finally Number 1!!!
Drum roll please….

Hulk Hogan Real American!
I am probably the biggest black Hulkamaniac anywhere so keep that in mind. But it is only fitting that the Greatest Wrestler in the history of the Universe, and Multiverse has the greatest entrance song ever. It didn’t matter if he was fighting King Kong Bundy, or Sid Justice, when that music kicked in, you got to your feet. And if you didn’t it was because you either hated America, you hated wrestling, or you are the offspring of Beezlebub. Just check out the two video, one is the song in its entirety for those who love the lyrics like me. The second one is his entrance at Wrestlemania 6. You can’t fake that kind of magic, and like the man, this song is magical.
Wrestlemania 6 Entrance
Well thats my top 11. Agree? Disagree? Pissed off? Leave me a comment. I hope you guys enjoy Wrestlemania 26 tonight. Come on HBK.
